Research

Gerontology program faculty, staff, and students are actively engaged in research which promotes individual, family, and community well-being across the life span. Our goal is to create aging-friendly solutions which facilitate sustainable communities for the generations. The core pillars of this work encompass health and wellness, technology, environments, and longevity.

Our research partners reach beyond the Iowa State campus and include businesses, non-profit agencies, faculty and centers at other universities and colleges, and government agencies. These partnerships lead to student projects, applied technologies, and policy recommendations, as well as peer-reviewed products and federal funding proposals.

Gerontology Program faculty and students have received funding from diverse funding agencies including the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and United States Department of Agriculture.
